Hi everybody, we’re searching for photos or video of, in, and around any Provo clubs (live music and/or dancing) from the early/mid 80s to early 90s. We’re thinking of Broderick’s, The Palace, Ivy Tower, Plastique, and Backstage Cafe, but any others could work as well.

We’re story boarding a music video and would love to use shots from that era. We can’t pay for them but we’ll credit any material we get. Please feel free to share this post with anyone you think this could apply to. Thanks! #Provo #80s

We really enjoyed doing those Christmas songs last year and last minute (of course), we decided to do another one. Dale was out of commission last week so Craig and George threw this together with the help of a backing track George found. We'll probably revisit this one next year with Dale and a more expansive arrangement, but this one will do for now. New single. Link in our bio. Have you ever been daydreaming at work and ended up seeing a film reel in your head of moments that changed your life? I was in the middle of doing that once and after the third viewing, it trailed off to a memory of an interview where Justin Currie (Del Amitri) professed his hate for “list songs” (thanks, Billy Joel!) while introducing one his band had just recorded. At that moment it occurred to me that I'd just done the same thing. I know gentlemen aren't supposed to kiss and tell, but it seems Audrey Smilley will.

It's hard to pinpoint the time or place that any of us became aware of the Everly Brothers. They were just there. Their influence was direct (especially for Craig and George), but it also came filtered through any number of bands we grew up listening to; the Beatles not being least of them. Without Phil and Don, we may have never heard a John and Paul. That's reason enough to mourn their loss. RIP, Don (and Phil, who went before you). You earned your rest, and your music will live on. Thank you both for sharing your talent with the world.

We used to cover Squeeze in our set back in the 80s. This isn't that song, but rather a bonus track from the Cool for Cats rerelease Squeeze did a few years back. But the song itself dates back to 1972.
We like the Faces feel and the summer vibe of Ain't it Sad.

From our inception, acoustic guitars have been a part of our sound as a band. When we started performing "unplugged" gigs we would go through our songs and see which ones lent themselves to an all acoustic setting. Every once in a while we found ourselves liking those versions even more than the originals. So along the same lines, our latest "Covid Clip" got the acoustic treatment almost immediately (though it may have been at the direction of a band wife or two... the single guy writing this isn't quite sure). #80s #90s #indie #indierock #provomusic #indiemusic #rockmusic #alternativerock

Dale has been performing “Baby” in Idaho with his friends Layne Ward and Michael Corbett (the song’s writer) and liked it so well he pitched it to the Audrey boys for inclusion on Audrey Smilley’s upcoming full length release, Hiraeth. We’d love to know what you think of it, so please leave remarks in the comments below. George added this New York Dolls song to our quara

George added this New York Dolls song to our quarantine list months ago, creating a scratch drum part and laying down the bass line, but that was as far as we got. Last week's news of the death of Sylvain Sylvain prompted us to step up and finish this one in his honor.

It was as fun to record as it was the first time we heard it (on the band's 2006 reunion album). RIP, Syl, and thank you for reminding us how much joy one band can inspire.

Craig and Shauna are celebrating 34 years of marri

Craig and Shauna are celebrating 34 years of marriage today. There isn't a symbol or traditional gift associated with the 34th anniversary, so Craig asked Dale, George, and Pete to help him record a musical tribute. A few years ago, Shauna said she considered "I Melt With You" as their song, so it only seemed proper to record this one to celebrate their anniversary.

As a band, we wish them another 34 years(and more) of laughs and continued happiness!

Back in our initial run, George fell in love about 8 times (on average) a year. Every once in a while, those dalliances were memorable enough to inspire a song or two. He started this one thinking about one girl and finished it thinking about another. And while neither of those relationships lasted, at least we got a song out of them!

If you were in a band in the late 80s and weren't metal or dance pop, people tended to think you sounded like @rem. That always drove us crazy since none of us really listened to the band at all. But in fairness, they had some great songs. This is one of them. And once again, we're doing a cover of a cover.

Momentum in a live show is everything. Bands often put tons of thought into creating a setlist that will keep the audience engaged and attentive. Too many ballads in a row and the audience gets bored. Too many same tempo songs and they get restless... Of course, things happen.
Anyone who's seen a few live bands knows that sometimes the guitarist (or even the bassist) can break a string. If it was a large band you probably saw a roadie rush out and trade out the guitar either between songs or even verses. Young bands with no money usually don't even have backup guitars, let alone roadies to run them out and save the day.
We may have realized this at our first gig. Definitely by the third. What do you do? You can't just say, "Hang tight, we'll be back in five minutes!" You hear that "BOING!" and immediately think, "Who's got a song to sing alone while I change this string?" We had three, so depending on whose string broke, one of those got sung. There's a good chance all three of our "Broken String Songs" will show up in this series, but the Candy Bar Song (from Peter, Paul and Mary) was, by far, Ros and Amy's favorite. #indiemusic #indierock #80s #80sMusic #90s #90sMusic #covid19 #quarantinemusic #peterpaulandmary #quarantinemusicsessions #covid19music
